An artist, if that is, capture the signals from the outside world, and reworks them. In any case, they anticipate, as in Paul Flowers of this exhibition, conceived in very difficult times, but recent substantially relaxed, and opened during one of the most complex crisis that the Mediterranean has ever seen. The iron men of flowers, giant iron men, much less graceful and dynamic character of comics, evoke the mummies, wrapped in bandages that prevent the identification of metal, but the Warriors Crusaders in their armor. The recent, sad fate of some of the mummies in the Cairo Museum, or the consequences of the Crusades, to be reinterpreted in all key today, are only two possible premonitions of flowers, or examples of his Weltanschauung, a world view independent, peaceful, detached, thoughtful and without rhetoric. Ecce homo is not merely the great iron men: a series of stelae from the future celebrates other archetypes of warrior, or samurai lunigianesi Iron Age, even a warrior, cyborgs do not exist. Science fiction, or rather, his characters are the language used by Flowers in Ecce homo, the lure of technology is the basic idea, the title is the sentence of Pontius Pilate, with all its overtones. For the metallic cyborg came after a long experimentation with materials, which began with the painting material and continued with fish / air wire into small glass and metal display cases, filled with transparent silicone. The appearance of translucent silicone with attractive and repulsive, in contrast with the glow of brushed iron hand, suggests future technologies, and advanced at the same time, patched, worn and obsolete, reduced to offerings of a world to come. In the past there were born warriors, dirty black grease as coming from another galaxy, glittering and frowning, to bring out the metallic sheen, Flowers
has put them on a cement floor, which absorbs all light and in turn, evokes
degraded urban landscapes. The search then moves Flowers
in different areas, the ecology, which is also the style and choice of life, civic consciousness - talk politics in the strict sense is an understatement - al futuro, non facile, non gradevole, non rassicurante, alla religiosità, poiché di idoli si tratta.
Inizialmente il suo lavoro artistico è stato caratterizzato from a language between the figurative expression
; the nineties, his painting has landed a gesture
more informal and full of matter, then he dedicated himself to
testing of materials, including silicon, which has often included natural elements (flowers, grass or fish). Versatile visual artist, ranging from painting, sculpture, assemblage and performance, with results that located between the Trans and the latest research object.
